That tension shapes everything we do. We’re committed to teaching our children how to stand up for justice, embrace their own voices, and protect their inner fire—while navigating how to keep them safe in a world that sometimes tries to dim that light.

But here’s the truth: I often struggle to make sense of it all myself.

There are days when I feel so flooded by the weight of the world—the headlines, the injustice, the fear—that I barely know how to process my own emotions, much less guide my children through theirs. I wonder if I’m saying the right things. If I’m shielding too much, or not enough. If I’m being honest about how broken things feel sometimes without stealing their sense of wonder.

Because even in all the uncertainty, I want my children to still see beauty.

I want them to know joy, to experience awe, to trust people—and also to be prepared. I want them to believe in the possibility of change, to feel empowered to create it, and to not be paralyzed by fear of backlash, even when that backlash inevitably comes. I want them to have tools I’m still trying to find myself.

And maybe that’s the whole point of this space.

The Courage Season is not about having the answers. It’s about asking the right questions together, out loud, in community. It’s about fumbling forward with purpose. It’s for the parents who are quietly resisting every time they teach their kids empathy in a world that rewards cruelty. For those of us trying to model decency in the face of division. For the ones whispering, “You are powerful. You are worthy. You can speak up. You are not alone.”

We may not know exactly how to raise kids who are fully ready for this world—but I believe we can learn from each other, and get a little closer, one brave season at a time.

Here, we’ll tackle the tough conversations: how to talk to kids about big issues, how to raise daughters who guard their flame, and sons who understand the power of softness. We’ll share stories, survival tips, book recommendations, and moments of humor and grace.

If you’ve ever felt alone trying to explain this world to your children in a way that keeps their hearts open and their minds strong, you’re not alone here.

Let’s raise brave.

Parenting today is about more than just raising children—it’s about raising brave humans who can stand tall in a world that feels increasingly divided, uncertain, and often hostile to the values we want to pass on: courage, kindness, critical thinking, and resilience.
